This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our students work so hard every day during their literacy block. In Kindergarten through 2nd grade, they are learning to become lifelong readers. At our school, we have a wonderful literacy program in place. We are starting to see some of our students struggling with phonemic awareness, which is a crucial first skill to learn in literacy. Our students need Phonics decodable readers to help improve their phonemic awareness skills. We will be using these books to supplement our reading program for students who are having difficulty learning to read.
These books will help both our students and teachers improve our practice as we learn more ways to teach reading.
