Help me give my students the gift of music! Instruments allow students to engage in hands-on lessons in the music room. The temple blocks, mallets, ratchets & gong will accompany multiple songs/stories I teach.
My school is a title 1 school with 100% free and reduce lunch rate. The students come from all sorts of backgrounds and they face challenges every day. Despite these challenges, they come to school with a smile and ready to learn, work hard and excel.
The staff at my school are more like family for our students.
Every teacher fosters a nurturing and welcoming environment for our students to grow. I am in a fortunate position where I get to teach and build relationships with all 220 students in my school. One thing all of the students have is common is that they love music! They love to sing, dance to music, play instruments and PERFORM!
My Project
Music education is a powerful tool to engage, spark joy, promote creativity, and encourage team work. I recently completed Orff Level 1 certification. With this certification, I learned how to adapt children's literature into a musical experience in my classroom. Using barred xylophones and various rhythm instruments, students create a sound story to go with their favorite books.
I want to provide this musical experience for my students but we need a few special rhythm instruments like the temple blocks, ratchets, gong and new mallets for our xylophones.
These instruments will not only engage students in my classroom but also promote literacy.
