My Students

Rhyming, blending, and syllables, oh my! Help my students build early reading skills to ensure academic success.

My students are a lively bunch of five and six-year olds.

They are eager to learn. These emergent readers need age appropriate literature in order to become successful, independent readers. Unfortunately, 98% of my students receive free or reduced breakfast and lunch which indicates that those students are also highly impoverished. This is just a glimpse of the socio-economic status of the entire student body. This disturbing data along with education budget cuts means that my students lack quality resources that are vital to their academic success.

My Project

This project will instill in my early learners one of the most critical skills to reading and language arts, phonemic awareness. If my students learn the basis of reading by age six, then they're more likely to become proficient readers and successful in their academic performances. They will learn to read in a way that is engaging, exciting, empowering, and just plain entertaining. With your support, my students will learn to read using books that are fun and will become motivated to read more and more. I have requested activity mats and manipulatives to build their phonemic awareness. Your donations will support our language arts learning center with quality emergent reading material that will surely develop life-long learners with a passion for literacy.

This project seeks to build early literacy skills in Kindergarten students.

By exploring learning centers and playing games, early learners will develop phonological and phonemic awareness, which are vital to learning to read. Your donations will furnish such games and centers, thereby providing opportunities to strengthen pre-reading skills. Your partnership will foster a love of reading and enrich these students' lives forever.
