This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am a PE teacher at CHS, an alternative / continuation school where the facilities are not the most updated or modern. My goal is to bring the weight room a fresh look and make it a safe haven place for exercise. The requested equipment will help me get a jump start on modernizing the weight room. (The 1st project was to get it painted and install some mirrors.) This phase is to get new equipment. A good start will be Olympic barbells and weight racks. The racks will allow me to maximize my space.
My students want to exercise, and I want to give them the best facility that can be offered.
My continuation students get left behind or are looked at differently. There are many good kids that just failed in the normal school setting. They just learn differently or had difficult home situations. I want my weight room to pop and stand out. I want to get this project moving in a positive direction.
