This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are part of a wonderful Dual Language program where they receive instruction in English and Spanish. In the program, the students learn to read, write, speak, and think in both languages and become aware of their own culture and others. This great advantage will help them tremendously in the future.

My students are energetic, caring, and loving children.

Their enthusiasm to come to school every day is shown through their work ethic as they work and complete assignments. Their motivation and dedication to try and do their best is the greatest reward of teaching.

My Project

I am part of a dance group that helps teach cultural awareness, cultural diversity and identity through dance and music. My co-teacher (Maria Guzman) and I teach Mexican Folkloric dance after school to a group of energetic and enthusiastic girls. They enjoy coming and expressing their joy of learning about themselves through culture.

Our dance girls are in dire need of practice skirts!

These skirts will be used throughout the years to help us learn our dances. Our current skirts are falling apart and we cannot properly dance with them. The practice skirts help us feel the rhythm of the music. The skirts also help us feel what our performance dress would feel like.
