S.O.S. Students Organize Supplies

My students need storage book bins to help organize our classroom library and to store their own books. Crayons, markers, and colored pencils are needed for projects.

FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Axness's classroom raised $849

My Students

At the beginning of the year my students are so excited! We always start the year out with simple projects/activities. When students do not have supplies for these projects it makes it difficult.

I teach 3rd grade to about 32 students.

My school is in the inner-city. We are about 70% free and reduced lunch. We also have about 40 students in the school who are HHM (Homeless and Highly Mobile). My students thrive on positive comments. They love sharing and telling stories.

My Project

At the beginning of each year 30% of my students bring school supplies, the others do not. I don't want students to feel left out if they did not bring supplies. I try to have community supplies available so all students feel a part of the team. In past years the supplies are bought by myself, however I am unable to continue doing this. If I have community supplies at each table groups will not only feel part of the classroom community but they will have a sense of responsibility. They will need to keep track and be responsible for their groups supplies. My students also do not have desks so they need somewhere to keep those supplies. Students love to be creative. Crayons, markers, and colored pencils allow them to add details to projects other then the basic pencil. The book bins will help them be organized. They will allow them to find books at their level faster so the can spend more time reading.

The beginning of the school year is the most important.

I want all of my students to come to the classroom excited and ready to learn. Having these supplies will allow all my students to have a positive start in 3rd grade!
