Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students love to work on projects! Creating a portfolio of their work is a year-long process. Being able to preserve the pieces they are most proud of... priceless!
I teach 22 curious, natural born third-grade scientists in a small Title I school with approximately 350 students and an amazing and supportive principal.
My students are eager to learn, and their brains are sponges that absorb any and all information given to them. Everything is a potential investigation/experiment to them, so I strive to provide my students with as many learning and project-based opportunities as possible. I enhance the school curriculum and students' intrinsic motivation to learn more by infusing STEAM correlations (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Science) whenever possible.
My Project
My students are involved in hands-on, inquiry-based activities every day. They are creative and inquisitive, and they work very hard on every assignment given to them. Project-based activities allow my students to produce work that is not only educationally sound, but also appeals to their creative side, integrating the arts whenever possible. At the beginning of the year, we creative portfolios, where students keep the work of which they are most proud and that they will share in our yearly "Educational Gallery Walk" at the end of the year.
Having a classroom laminator, my students will be able to preserve their work and keep it for years to come. It will also be a classroom tool that will be used to maintain word wall vocabulary cards; to create lab posters and literacy and math center activities; and to preserve science and math game boards that students create as extensions of their learning experiences.
This donation will help my students create work that they will be able to preserve and keep for years to come.
When students' work is laminated, they feel like they have accomplished more. I want to continue to help the students in my school reach their full potential with their school work and their self-esteem.
