This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember the books you loved having read to you as a child?

My students come from different backgrounds than did most of us.

Where my parents read to me as a child, these parents are struggling to put food on the table. They are from low socio-economic classes, few speak English at home, and many kids only have one parent at home.

My Project

Reading is such an important part of learning. I can still remember favorite books that I had as a child. These students are not given this same opportunity, because there are no books at home, and many parents can't read themselves. This is my first year teaching this grade level, and almost all of my books are too far advanced for their level.

By contributing to my library you are giving children the same opportunity we had as kids - to love books and have them read to us.

From that, we develop skills on how to read and become better readers ourselves. Give them that same opportunity.
