My Project
Seeking a "Tech-Hero" willing to donate 12 computers and a 12 port charging station for my classroom! I am currently a seventh -eighth grade tear at an at-risk elementary school. My students are derived from low socioeconomic backgrounds, 89.5% Black and 10.5% Latino, some are even homeless. My school is 100% free lunch. These computers will allow me to provide the additional support needed for my students to complete their assignments, conduct research projects, writing/, publishing their essays, and so much more, without them being limited in waiting on their classmate to finish. Students will be able to use one of these 12 computers in case there are no more working ones to complete their required tasks. These additional computers will help cut down on their frustration of not having a working one.
My students are entering adolescence and evolving into college career ready scholars and require only the simple things.
But my school has very limited resources, especially this past school year. We were denied being given any replacements for broken Chromebooks. It became a dilemma across the entire school. My students suffered mainly. They were forced to share computers, many assignments had to be completed in class and took over a week to do so! Testing was even problematic as some students had to test on alternate days because they didn't have a computer to test on! They even had problems with being able to publish their writing essays. It was harrowing for them and me. I realize the expense involved puts me way over the basic amount I'd normally ask for. So I need a Tech Hero to save the day and help me provide some support with my students having a computer. S.O.S!! Please!
