Soothing Sensory Centers

My Project

My special needs students have a wide range of abilities and interests. They love to learn about animals, build things, and work with numbers. They are all very loving and expressive in their own ways. My students also have significant sensory processing issues and need additional sensory input in a variety of ways. The sensory dough, foam, slime and kinetic sand will be used during lessons where the children will be forming letters and numbers with the. materials. They will also use them in math to create their own manipulatives for counting, adding, and subtracting. The water beads, sound stackers and sensory disks materials that I am seeking will offer sensory relief in different ways to all my students, while they explore and learn to integrate new sensory experiences. These materials will be available at a sensory center all day, but will also be integrated into specific lessons designed to increase tolerance.
