This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a school social worker in an inner city school district, my students tend to come to school with many distraction on their mind. Many live in poverty, parents are working while siblings are caring for them and some are coming to school wondering if they will have breakfast and lunch. Even with these concerns they are eager to learn and be engaged during the school day.

They are creative, thoughtful and full of questions!

They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. Truly, they are my inspiration!

My Project

Students are always coming to see me to manage their strong emotions. These items are hands on therapeutic intervention that will help them each and every time. The bulk of these items can go with the student into their classrooms so that they can learn to manage their emotions on their own.

The kinetic sand is being purchased in bulk and will be put into mini containers so that students can take it with them.

They can keep them snug in their pockets and take it out for use at their desks.

The squishy balls are all small enough fit into their hands and to be used to help them focus and manage their thoughts and feelings independently. I am so excited to share these items with my students.
