My students need 9 materials to help them practice math facts and problem solving skills. This includes daily word problems, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division facts stamps, plus practice sheets.
Ready, set, go! Now you only have one minute to complete 25 math facts. Can you do it? Sometimes we struggle. Imagine how frustrating timed math tests can be for students who don't get the extra help they need at home. I love our math curriculum, but I disagree with the timed testing part of it.
My students don't always go home after school.
A lot of them go to a child care center with a lot of other kids, and that certainly isn't the best place to study. Well, home isn't much better for a lot of my students. Parents don't check homework or help my students study. Our math tests are all timed, and a lot of students are left on their own at home to study. The parents wont even bother timing them for just one minute because they're "too busy," so the children set the microwave for 1 minute! (Pretty smart, isn't it?) We have to be creative when it comes to teaching!
My Project
I have found some really great resources for my class. I would love to use these products as morning work, to get their minds going. Especially when it comes to multiplication, students start to struggle, because it's all memorization. These fact stamps would be perfect! When we look at standardized test data, we've pinpointed our students' weak areas. They struggle with numbers and operations and word problem solving. This is where the overhead problem solving cards come in handy. I could put a few of them up, and we could problem solve together, step by step, as I guide them along. But sometimes they need the independent practice, and the daily word problems book would be just perfect!
If I could purchase these products on my own, believe me, I would in a heartbeat, but they need so many things.
I would like to ask for your help, because I can't do it all alone! Will you help my students to be successful math students?
