This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a teacher that has worked at the same school for many years, I have seen many of my students blossom and achieve amazing things. I have also been witness to many of my students that do not have basic needs in order to succeed. Food is such a basic need that many of my students lack at home.
Many of my students face hunger every day and do not have much to eat at home.
My students go home to an empty house where their parents are working more than one job to try to make ends meet. Snacks like fruit snacks, granola bars, and cookies can help my students get through the day at home.
By providing some individually wrapped snacks that my students can have access to in the classroom will allow my students to concentrate in class. These snacks will also be available for my students to take home.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
