Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Imagine a world where you can't travel, explore, you don't even know what a menu means. My students are all in this situation. I believe that through reading, I can expose them to a whole new world.
My class consists of 30 3rd graders and 25 4th graders who are English Language Learners.
They are all categorized as being At Risk since they come from a high poverty school. They are enrolled in a bilingual program which uses their native language skills to transfer to the mainstream English program.
My Project
Through these books, I will be able to expand our classroom library. I will be able to check out books for students so they can take home and develop a love for reading. I will be able to do read-alouds and expand their world knowledge and enable them to think critically.
For my students, buying a book is a luxury.
Having these titles available for them in the classroom could make a big difference in closing the achievement gap. Help my students be successful!
