Help me give my students snacks to munch on when they are hungry. Breakfast bars are easy to distribute and allow my students to eat while they are working on an assignment.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I have been working at this school for the last 18 years. This is my home away from home. My students are a part of our school family and I witness their needs on a daily bases. Many of my students arrive to school with very little resources at home. At times, they need something to take home so they have something to eat.
Snacks are an easy item to have on hand and distribute when a student is hungry and can't focus because they are hungry.
By providing snacks for my students, they are able to take a quick break, refocus, and it allows them to get back on track. Many of my students lack basic needs and come from homes that are struggling to put food on the table.
My students rely on me to provide comfort, food, and basic needs that are needed on a daily basis. Having snacks in the classroom allows my students to have some of their needs met. Snacks provide a quick fix when needed.
