My students need essential materials like chart paper, folders, name tags, folder activities, ring fasteners, etc in order to have an efficient and smooth running classroom. The materials requested are needed to facilitate instruction.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Describing what makes my students special is a question hard to tackle as each individual student possess unique charm, intelligence, ability and overall personality. As their teacher, I take great delight in sharing learning and growth as I try to achieve my ultimate goal of creating enthusiastic life-long learners who work towards achieving to their maximum potential.
My students, in spite of the circumstances that come from growing up in a commonly neglected low socioeconomic community, have the same potential as any other group of children.
In their eyes I witness the brightest of sparks whenever they make a discovery or master a challenging skill. My students have a true and honest desire to not only learn, but also to accomplish and become a positive member of their community.
Unfortunately, this potential, spark and desire is often extinguished by the numerous odds against them as they repeatedly fall victim to their environment. I am saddened by the the massive loss that occurs in our community. I am angered by my inability to change this in the large scale of things. However, my sadness and anger will not stop me from changing this course for at least one little person.
My Project
The materials requested in this project are simply to help my classroom run smoothly and efficiently. The Mead notebooks will help keep students responses to stories organized in one place and easy for students to look back and see how much they have grown. The self-adhesive charts will be used to display anchor charts as well as visual aids for students to use as a resource. The chart markers will be used in the creation of the above charts and displays. The file folder language arts games are for students to use when they have completed an assignment or during center time. The book rings are to create a compilation of sight words for students to practice. The frog charts are to be used as incentives, students earn the stickers as they display positive behaviors, when the chart is complete they earn a special prize. The folders will be used for students to organize their work and access any work in progress with ease. Color coding helps Kindergarteners find things easily. The name tags are to label their folders. The name plates are for my students to have on their desks. These name plates have an alphabet, colors, shapes and a hundreds chart that can serve as a resource when students are working on an assignment. Finally, the hall passes are a replacement for the two we've lost this year.
These materials would be expected in every classroom, but unfortunately, that is not the case in my school.
My school, like many others, is struggling to stay afloat. With increasing classroom sizes and stagnant or decreasing income, schools struggle to obtain even the most essential of materials.
This project will aid in creating and maintaining the classroom my students need and deserve. Thank you!
