This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The main thing that I love about my students is that they look out for one another in the classroom. This is a special trait that we practice in my classroom. Many times when we are working in our groups we use whiteboards and dry erase markers. Even though there may not be enough to go around, my students will share with each other.
My students are usually in good spirits and love to work in their groups.
They will let you know that it is time to work in small groups. It is the hands on activities that makes it so engaging for them to want to participate.
My Project
These materials will make a huge difference in my students learning because studies have shown that when learning math it is best to begin with the concrete. The math games have manipulatives that will represent as a visual as well as a tactile for students. It also benefits students with teamwork and social skills. The Dot Pens with cards are fun and engaging. Students are able to self monitor their own learning and enjoy themselves independently. These materials will steer students to hopefully have purposeful conversations to explain how they arrived with a solution to share with the teacher or others.
