My students need 36 sets of chair socks to reduce the amount of noise caused by chairs when they are moved on the classroom floor.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach third grade in a high-need community. My students are a mix of general education students and students on the autism spectrum. My school has a special program for students with autism spectrum disorders that meets their specific needs.
Often times, classrooms can get very noisy when everyone is moving around and desks and chairs are scratching on the floor. Many students are sensitive to sound and can get very distracted by it. This is especially true with students on the autism spectrum. These students can have difficulties with sensory control and their learning can be negatively impacted by excessive noise in the classroom.
That said, it is important that my classroom chairs have chair socks on the legs to reduce the amount of noise in the classroom. The chair socks act as a buffer and they limit the amount of scratchy noises the chair legs make on the floor of the classroom. This will help my general education students as well as my students with autism in a great way. My students will not be disrupted from their learning by the loud volume of chairs scratching against the floor. They will be able to concentrate on the new topics they are learning.
With your help, my students will be able to learn in a quiet and safe environment. Chair socks will enable my students to quietly move chairs around at their desks as well as the rest of the classroom. My students will be able to focus on the lesson and not have to worry about the noise of the chairs distracting them.
