Second grade has changed a lot over the years. The students are expected to achieve more than ever before. How can they do this without being provided the materials to do it?
My students are in a high poverty public school that is about 70% low income.
This is something that already puts some of them at a disadvantage. They are not all able to get extra materials at home to continue learning what has been introduced at school. For this reason, I want to be able to expose them to as many learning opportunities as possible! It is in my classroom where they get to take risks and open their minds to new learning experiences! I need your help to give them all of these experiences!
My Project
This school year is going to be very different than any other. My students will return to face to face instruction 2-3 days a week. During this time, students will be required to be socially distanced throughout the day. These activities will be ones that the students will have to use independently.
Because students will be required to socially distance this school year, my classroom needs more games and activities for them to use during indoor recess, STEM, and break time.
Coloring pages, play-doh, playfoam, independent learning games, and building activities will be activities that students can participate in independently while still having fun.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
