Socially Distanced Fitness and Balance

Help me give my students the equipment they need to focus on fitness and balance in a socially distanced way. Jump ropes will allow my classes to work on their cardio endurance while remaining six feet apart.

My Students

My students are from a Title I School in Philadelphia. Most are living in a single parent, grandparent or foster parent home. I teach grades K-8 and interact with every student. They are curious, have lots of energy and always eager to try something new.

I need equipment that will allow me to implement socially distanced lessons for my students.

This project will allow me to teach my student fitness components and balance without sharing a lot of equipment.

My Project

These materials will help my students work on their cardiac fitness and balance while remaining a safe distance apart. Each student will be able to have their own jump rope so they can work on their fitness in their own space. We can also use the jump ropes to do line work outs and plyometrics.

The river stones will allow my younger classes to focus on balance.

They will be able to walk or jump from stone to stone, increasing their distance and challenging their balance.

Having weights in class will enable students to work on their muscular endurance while maintaining distance. They will be able to complete upper and lower body exercises to build muscle and work on building a lifelong passion for fitness!
