Help me give my students the ability to practice working with clay while we are away from the school building.

My Students
Students across the country are struggling with the new realities of education. Here in Philadelphia our students faced huge inequities before Covid-19 closed our school buildings. Access to technology and internet are huge barriers for many of our students. While some strides have been made to help meet the needs of our most vulnerable students, there are other needs that will surely go unmet.
The arts are an integral part of public education, and this pandemic should not deprive our students of the benefits of a great arts education.
Students need to be provided with high quality lessons and materials to further their learning and experiences in the arts. Finding new and innovative ways to accomplish this is a critical job for teachers in this unprecedented time.
My Project
Teaching high school ceramics has been extremely rewarding for me as a teacher. Knowing that my students this year will be deprived of the opportunity to work with clay for at least the first marking period is very upsetting. By providing each student with some air dry clay they can start to get the feel for working with clay before we are allowed back into the classroom.
Creating something with your own hands is a great feeling that I do not want my students to miss out on just because of virtual learning.
Hopefully with this project my students will not be too far behind by the time we reenter the school building, whenever that may be. The markers will work nicely to add graphic designs to the surface of their air dry clay creations.
