My Project

During the pandemic, many students didn't get to socialize in person. When they returned to school, I think all teachers expected there to be a gap in their social skills. That gap was more extensive than I expected. I want to help students develop those social skills.

Once a week I run a game room in my classroom.

Students get to choose it as an option to attend. My goal is to get students to put down their phones and actually interact with other students directly. When they play games of their choosing, they're more likely to participate. I've also noticed that they're more likely to invite and welcome a student who isn't part of their regular social circle of friends. I also see students destress when playing games with their peers and be more present.
