Social Work-Fidget Tools for Promoting Calmness in Students with Disabilities

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
By funding my project you will be providing students with tools that will support their social/emotional learning. Students that are diagnosed with (but not limited to) Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), anxiety, depression, oppositional defiant disorder, Autism, will benefit from these tools. These fidgets will provide students a way for them to self-regulate their emotions, manage their stress/anxiety, channel their excessive energy and allow them to better focus in the classroom. These materials will help them feel calm by grounding their body and giving them more self control of their bodies and mind.
Stress relief:
Squeezing a stress ball or manipulating a fidget toy can release pent-up tension, promoting relaxation and calming down in stressful situations.
Sensory input:
Fidgets provide tactile stimulation, which can help individuals with sensory processing needs to feel grounded and focused, improving their ability to engage socially.
Self-awareness:
Some fidgets, like those with different colors or textures, can be used to visually represent emotions, helping children identify and express their feelings more effectively.
Improved focus:
By providing a quiet outlet for excess energy, fidgets can help individuals stay focused during social interactions and classroom activities, leading to better participation and engagement.
Coping mechanism:
Fidgets can act as a coping mechanism for individuals experiencing overwhelming emotions, allowing them to discreetly manage their feelings without disrupting others.
