My Students

I am a kindergarten through second-grade special education teacher in my hometown elementary school of Bradford, Pennsylvania. My classroom provides emotional and autistic support services. The classroom focuses on relationships, routines, and reinforcement, as students work towards individual goals and curriculum.

My students work as a family, as noted by their kindness and regard we show to each other.

If one observed our classroom, they would see students working together in academic, social, and play centers. You would hear and see synergizing, proactivity, goal statements, and students following their passions.

My Project

Students in my kindergarten through second-grade autistic support classrooms are working on skills that promote team building, sharing, social play, and self-exploration.

These items will be used for directed art time and for self-exploration time utilized daily in my classroom.

These activities are designed as a time for students to use exploration, creativity, and reinforcement to slow down from a busy day.

Students are shown a reinforcing animated cartoon or musical video connected to the project’s theme while completing the socially directed art group. They are also given a center rotation time to design their own project using their imagination with random art materials laid out. These different activities are geared towards helping students calm down, use creativity, give relaxing time for themselves, and work on social and independent skills.
