This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are attending an inner-city public school in IL. There are a variety of students in the general education population—diverse learners and English language learners, 98% of whom come from low-income households. I working with them and their families so they can be more involved in education and value it. I attend a variety of community events to gather information about their learning and living environments so I know how to best help them in the classroom while being sensitive to their needs academically and socially. There are many outside factors that stand in their way of education especially with the continuing budget crisis so resources are limited.

My Project

Students enjoy enriching hands-on activities in order to learn through learning in different ways meet their learning styles. These materials will give students the opportunity to due so. In addition, students will learn non-fiction aspects of history and connect to the events and aspects of Social Studies is so important. These manipulatives will help students to engage in their learning through making connections. Making connections helps the students really understand the material and be able to connect it to something they experience. These materials will help them to understand what events where like previously. These materials will help them them connect with the timeline of events.
