My Students

This year my students are very eager to work with partners exploring topics of interest. The social studies curriculum is where my students need the most support in technology so they can learn about far away places. Laptops and color images will motivate my students to share their learning.

My students come from many different countries and speak a variety of languages.

We are located in Brooklyn, New York. Being able to learn about communities with technology will support those who speak English as a second language especially. Visual and auditory aids are very important part of their learning. Researching also challenges their independence.

My Project

My students need flash drives to save research they are collecting about communities around the world. They need a color printer and ink to print images, maps, and charts for projects. My students have formed research groups and have focused on what they want to learn about each community. Right now we are studying Brazil, but will soon be moving into China. I'd like them to be able to find and print maps and images, as well as download and save videos to learn more about how people live their lives there. We will also study Japan, Africa, and Europe.

This project will be presented at the social studies fair and will enrich the knowledge of my students as well as many others in the school.

We will be publishing and sharing our own books about the communities we have studied.
