My Students
I am a speech therapist who teaches pre-k all the way to high school seniors. I work at two different schools with 60 students that I serve between those schools.
My students have so many needs for successfully communicating and advocating for themselves.
From using communication AAC devices to social/emotional needs to remediating articulation sounds and language needs, the needs are many.
Covid-19 has definitely impacted the population that I serve. To be honest, I would say that children with special needs and disabilities have been impacted the greatest out of the school populations and have lost so much with the shut down that happened. Many of them were not able to get the hands on services they needed from online teaching.
My Project
These materials will help my students to learn more about social skills and academic learning through activities and books! It is so important to teach students about their emotions so they can better express their thoughts, ideas, wants, needs, and feelings.
All students, especially students with ASD need to learn how to express themselves, work together, and so much more!
This project will help my students to do just that! Learning from books, activities, and from the natural helps builds connects with peers and everlasting friendship for the years to come.
