it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My name is Maria Vazquez and I am a special education teacher. My class is an inclusive Transitional Kinder classroom with a combination of typically developing students and students with disabilities. One area I am supporting my students with is in regulating their big emotions and in building social skills.
COVID 19 has caused children to remain indoors and miss out on healthy outdoor play that helps support social skill development.
I appreciate your help in providing my students opportunities to gain confidence, build relationships with their peers, and learn to express their emotions through active play.
This outdoor equipment will make a difference and allow my students the gift of physical activity while learning to develop mindfulness which can lead to healthy emotion regulation. The equipment will help create play experiences for ALL of my students despite their different abilities. The soccer equipment and the scooters will help promote physical fitness while supporting teamwork and building social skills. The flying discs and balls will particularly help my students with special needs as they are easier to throw and grasp and will facilitate inclusive play as well.
I want to support my students by providing fun physical activities that will allow for healthy social-emotional development as they engage in physical games.
