Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in a mild-moderate special education classroom for students in first through fourth grade. I teach in a small city about 30 miles from San Francisco, CA.

All of my students are curious about learning new things and exploring.

My school is a low income school, so most of the students in the school qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.

My students are hard workers and are excited to learn new things. My students all have IEPs to help them be successful in school. My program is designed to help our students close the educational gaps between them and their general education peers.

My Project

My students have created our own classroom environment. We want to build and expand this to represent our community.

The items in this project will help my students learn social skills with items that represent all the ethnicities in our class.

This project will help my students interact with each other and learn about the different people in our community.

My students need to improve their social interaction skills. This project with provide the change to expand their language development, social skills, turn taking, and community knowledge. My students will also learn safety skills such as what to do at a stop sign or crosswalk, as well as stranger safety. The students will also grow creatively because they will create their own imaginative communities together.
