My Project

I teach a great bunch of preschoolers who have all been affected greatly during the COVID-19 pandemic. My students have all been diagnosed with Autism, one of the main deficits is a deficit in social-emotional skills. The pandemic made it difficult for my students to receive early interventions or participate in play groups that would help strengthen these skills.

Realistic playsets encourage social-emotional play.

I'm trying to provide my students with playsets that will introduce pretend play. My students are struggling with appropriate play with toys and also turn taking and sharing. We use a lot of toys to encourage interactions between the students. Lego sets and cars are very popular choices for preschoolers. They are also easy objects to encourage socializing and interactive play.
