My Students
During this pandemic it has become ever more evident how students' education has been greatly impacted. My students are without books, and resources they need to be successful and to continue learning.
My students are creative, energetic, and eager to achieve.
I teach students in grade 4 in a public school in inner city Baltimore. Some of my students have been diagnosed with a disability; however, disabilities are what they have, not who they are. 90 percent or more receive free and reduced lunch; however their socioeconomic status doesn't determine how far they will go They strive every day to read more and learn more on all subject areas. Their only limits are what they have yet to be exposed to. Our class will greatly benefit from these supplies to help access the curriculum and close the achievement gap.
My Project
We are embracing a new great time in history where the world is waking up to a better understanding of social injustice and the continued impact of racial discrimination. My students are witnessing protests, news outlets discussions, and conversations in their homes about social injustice.
This project is aimed at creating a safe environment where students can properly frame their curiosity on the topic of social injustice through the creation of our new classroom library.
The library will be decorated and filled with multicultural resources that are inviting to my students and seek to answer the questions they have and to promote inclusion.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
