My Project
My students are growing up in a vibrant, diverse community, but they don’t always have access to the resources that help them feel seen, safe, and supported. In our classroom, I want every student—no matter their background, identity, or circumstance—to know that they belong, that their needs matter, and that their voice is valued. That’s why I’m requesting items that foster comfort, inclusion, and empowerment.
The diversity posters and social justice stickers will help visually reflect the range of cultures, identities, and movements that shape our students’ world, giving them pride and validation.
The period products and small hygiene items like soaps ensure students can take care of themselves with dignity—without embarrassment or financial burden. Weighted animals and a cozy bean bag will offer calming tools for students who are managing anxiety or sensory challenges, and give them a safe space to regulate emotions.
These may seem like small things, but for students in underfunded schools like ours, they make a big difference. They send a powerful message: You matter. You are welcome here. And this classroom is a space for justice, respect, and care.
