This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My goal for this project is to create a bank of resources to use with my students in a counseling setting. As an intern, I am still working on building up my resource tool kit in order to create engaging and fruitful sessions with my counseling students. As a School Psychologist Intern, I work primarily with student with disabilities, who are among the most marginalized in our schools, and deserve access to robust services with appropriate resources.

The curriculums I selected for this project target a wide array of skills and issues, from supporting our students with ADHD with executive functioning to empowering students to recognize and regulate their emotional responses to triggers, as well as helping students who may struggle with a history of trauma, anxiety, or depression.

I also selected posters and visuals to be used in sessions to help students who may benefit from more tangible and visual supports as they move towards their individualized goals.

My project also includes an array of fidgets and sensory toys that support the needs of all students, but especially our autistic students and students with ADHD. Having these tools in counseling sessions helps students engage more meaningfully and gives them an outlet for their sensory or attention-based needs.

Lastly, my project includes construction paper for art therapy and printer ink so that I can continue to supply printed worksheets and materials to be used in counseling sessions.
