My Students

Our students are thoughtful, focused, and passionate. These may be the strongest qualities we see in our students, but they are in desperate need of social emotional assistance.

Due to resent events many of our students have been without social emotional support for almost half a year.

The importance of talking with our students about advocating for themselves, building communication skills, and understanding how to process situations are higher than we have seen in the past.

My Project

Due to the small numbers of our community, funding for school resources are low. The books, games and activities I am requesting in this Donors Choose project will not only help students begin the conversations on how to process different situations, but they will also give us an opportunity to step away from technology and find a love for books once again. Many of the books are available through a digital read aloud, but the human connection is what our students need in this present situation. Having the physical book to read and share with our students will bring lessons beyond what the book's message offers.

Learning how to advocate for themselves does not have to be such an intimating process!

The manipulatives in this projects will allow our students to enter my office and have something to work with as we have our counseling conversations.
