Social Emotional Peace Corner

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are special, because of their tenacity. I often counsel individuals who have already experienced 6 or more ACEs. Yet, despite dire circumstances, my students are committed to learning and utilizing self-regulation skills. Further, COVID-19 has significantly stunted students' social development, resulting in high instances of interpersonal conflict. Amazingly, students actively seek out support for conflict resolution.

The peace corner will deepen students' self-regulation and restorative practices.

Tools such as the calm puzzle and breathing mazes will make the space an effective method for reset. While journals and SEL dice will help students to employ interpersonal skills. I included an agenda and book for my planning. While the tent is especially for my neurodivergent students who appreciate contained spaces. This peace corner will enhance my students' tenacity and self-regulation.
