Help me give my students sensory items-beanbag chair, a weighted lap blanket, a vibrating pillow, sensory feet cushions, fidget toys, calm corner kits, and a room divider to create a safe sensory place conducive for learning.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students with special needs require the opportunity to have a refuge from their behavioral challenges. My goal is to create a nurturing/safe space within the classroom where each student has access to sensory items that will help them regulate their emotions, stay focused, and participate in learning.
The items I'm requesting, wiggle feet sensory cushion, a weighted lap blanket, fidgets, vibrating pillows, and a sensory mat, will provide students with the tools they need to regulate their emotions to improve focus and concentration.
The room divider and bean bag chair will create a safe place within the classroom to learn these self-management skills.

By providing a structured yet comforting space, they will have the tools they need to navigate their emotions and a nurturing, safe space within the classroom conducive for learning.
