This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are a small public charter school in San Bernardino, California. Our students are excited to learn new things and love having individualized attention. They come from all different backgrounds and have different living situations.
Our whole school works really hard to help keep students engaged and parents informed about what is going on at school.
I work with students who are struggling with different things or who might need a little extra attention individually, in small groups, and in virtual classroom SEL lessons.
Many of these kids have not learned basic social skills or have challenges that make it harder for them to develop these relational skills. Many of them have not had a healthy example of how to cope with emotions, and some need some help developing these skills and having someone work with them so they can be successful both in school and at home.
These students are resilient and incredible, and they deserve every opportunity to be successful in academics and life.
My Project
Social emotional learning has been recognized to help students learn better both in the classroom and help them build the skills that they need throughout life. Things like journaling and mindfulness can help reduces anxiety and help students through this difficult year.
Please help me give my students additional resources to use in the classroom and on their own focusing on Social Emotional Learning.
These resources will be able to be used over and over again and will help strengthen our student's resilience, reduce anxieties and stress and help them be stronger scholars.
