My Students

I am so happy to welcome my incoming kindergarteners for the 2021-2022 school year. They are an inquisitive and excited bunch of learners ready for the new year. My class student population is diverse and comprises multiple ethnicities, ENL (English as a New Language) and IEP (Individualized Education Program) students.

In kindergarten, my students will be growing personally, socially, and emotionally.

As a school, we teach children to show empathy, care for each other, and strive to be better community members.

My Project

As excited as my students will be about returning to a classroom setting, there will be many new challenges ahead. The 2020-2021 school year was challenging for both in-person and virtual learners. This will be their first time in a classroom where they will be faced with many new social and emotional situations for many students.

Books are a great addition to any lesson promoting healthy social, emotional, and behavioral development.

Read aloud for classrooms, small groups, and individuals can be created from books to fit students' needs and experiences. Diane Alber and Julia Cook are fantastic authors who write stories relatable to children and their emotions. This project will help my students identify and positively express their emotions as they navigate their way back to in-person learning.
