My Project
I truly have the most wonderful students! They are resilient and unbelievably inspiring. I work at a low income school where many of my students have experienced trauma. Because of this I teach a lot of Social Emotional lessons in my class to help my students manage their stress, cope with overwhelming emotions, and give them important social skills. One of the best ways I have found to teach is using books. It gives the students something to connect with and it builds literacy skills. These books have been specifically selected to teach lessons that will help students understand their emotions, be mindful, have a growth mindset, create healthy friendships and relationships, develop empathy, kindness, and respect, and to be more responsible.
Half of students from low‑income households
