My students need these items to help them learn about self-regulation and engage in social emotional learning. The students have trauma, and deficits in social emotional regulation, and are also students with disabilities. These items will be used for coping and calming guided breathing and meditation and sensory videos for students self-regulate their emotions and behaviors. I will download calming apps on the iPad (breathing, yoga, self-regulation) to help teach the students about the feelings in their bodies.
Sensory regulation strategies are useful tools you can use to help individuals to calm down or to energize when they need to.
The students will use sensory items like slime and magnetiles for sensory input to help regulate their nervous systems.
Students with trauma and other related disabilities also struggle with getting along together in a peaceful way. I will use the ipad and magnetiles for activities that foster social emotional learning.
