Social- Emotional Learning Matters

Help me give my students a calm, sensory based, and rewarding environment that supports a healthy social-emotional learning environment, mental health, and clarity.

My Project

Oftentimes, learning is only construed in academic performance. However, effective teaching impacts the whole child including, academic performance, mental health, & social-emotional balance. The materials I am requesting will encourage pupils to work hard for rewards while promoting emotional growth, self-control, and personal accountability.

The goal of this project is to minimize peer conflicts, tantrums, and emotional breakdowns by incentivizing students for good behavior and maintaining a calming environment through aromatherapy and sensory items.

Items will be utilized in the calm-down area, where students can take breaks (at their will) when they are dealing with emotional stress. Items like stress balls, liquid motions, and books will be utilized to help students regroup, calm down, and remain in control of themselves.

My students are special because, despite (some) of their personal home lives, they come to school every day with a smile on their face and ready to learn. I teach at a Title I school where we serve 100% free and reduced lunch students. My students deserve the best because they try their best!
