Developing strategies for collaborating with peers, expressing and regulating emotions, and maintaining self-control is critical to student success. If students are not regulated, they cannot engage and learn. We also want to make sure that the materials we use represent diversity and cultural identities among our students.
We would like to add new read-alouds to our classroom library that emphasize emotional regulation, inclusion, cultural diversity, problem solving skills, making friends, and so much more!
These books will be used to ensure that social emotional learning is embedded into every day learning and activities. They will also lay the foundation for discussing various social situations, civic responsibilities, and uniqueness that are a part of our school community.
