Social Emotional Learning for All: Breathe For Change

I need financial assistance to become a certified Social-Emotional Learning Facilitator and bring mindfulness into the classroom!

My Project

Mental Health is health, and it's essential. Teachers are burned out and exhausted. This is not good for the students. The Covid school year of 2020-2021 has exasperated this problem. That is why I want to enroll in the Breathe for Change Wellness, SEL, and Yoga Teacher training.

As stated on their website,

Breathe For Change aligns the learning objectives of our workshops and courses to the five core competencies of The Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) who defined social-emotional learning more than two decades ago. Breathe For Change is guided by our work to ensure that educators gain tools to effectively embody and teach social-emotional learning in their lives, classrooms, and communities.

Upon completion, I will become certified as a Social-Emotional Learning Facilitator and earn a nationally recognized RYT-200 yoga teacher certification.

As a special education teacher, I teach a group of diverse students who often struggle in school. My students often lack coping skills and emotional regulation. When a student is not regulated, learning can not take place. My students are smart, curious, and want to do better. I want to help them do better.

Breathe for Change believes that increasing the well-being of educators will enhance learning environments, which in turn leads to a positive community culture. I can't wait to pass along the mindfulness strategies I learn to my students and the whole school community!
