This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As an elementary school social worker, I am lucky enough to work with every student at my school! Whether through whole class lessons, small group instruction, or individual sessions, I get to meet, teach, and learn from each one of our amazing students.

The students I work with in small groups and individual sessions are typically facing big challenges or changes; this often causes big feelings!

Students meet with me to learn social/emotional skills, such as emotion recognition, self-regulation, empathy, teamwork, and problem solving. My students are curious, resilient, kind, and eager to learn!

My Project

It's Back to School Season! With the chaos of last school year, I am hoping to provide my students with quality tools and materials that will help them increase their self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and decision-making skills in fun and engaging ways!

Children learn best through play and creativity!

My students will benefit from new books and games, as they will learn to communicate their needs and emotions while doing things they enjoy. New sensory items will act as tools for my students to regulate their emotions. Lastly, new reinforcers will reward students for things like being kind, thinking about how others feel, utilizing healthy coping skills, reflecting on their actions, and more - because they deserve it!
