My Students

The school I teach at has the philosophy that every child can be a leader. We consistently work towards wildly important goals as a class and as individuals. These goals include personal and academic endeavors that are of high importance.

My class is full of high energy fifth graders who love to talk, collaborate, and be involved in learning.

We have collectively created and strive to live up to our class mission statement. Which goes, "In this classroom we are be respectful, kind, happy, safe, calm and clean leaders. When we work together, we will have fun. We don't quit because we are determined. 23 students can be 23 leaders 100% of the time."

My Project

The majority of the resources which I am requesting are flexible seating options for my students. Allowing my students to have flexible seating options in the classroom will affect the social-emotional well being of my students. Being able to move away from the traditional desk and use a chair that wobbles or a portable desk on the floor will increase their focus on their schoolwork.

As a result of COVID-19, students are more aware of their need to feel connected to people in a safe and positive way.

The lap desks specifically will allow the students to work collaboratively in a non-traditional desk/table setting where they are connected to their peers as they work towards a common goal.

The remaining resources which I have requested are materials to increase engagement in science and social studies lessons. I hope to integrate math and language arts skills into the engaging science and social studies concepts to help my students be excited to learn and try new things.
