Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are 3rd to 5th grade students learning in a hybrid model! Students attend school in person between 2 and 4 days per week and are virtual the other 1 to 5 days! It is certainly interesting teaching and learning during the Covid 19 Pandemic, but they are rising to the challenge.

My students are a diverse group, they are a mix of General Education students, Special Education students and English Language Learners.

In addition to learning about different mediums, mentor artists and art history, my students enjoy reading diverse books about a variety of artists and engaging in STEAM activities.

My students are eager to learn and I enjoy teaching, mentoring and shaping the minds of tomorrow's leaders!

My Project

Learning during a pandemic is hard, but not TOO hard for students with perserverance and grit! My students are working so hard in their academic subjects, they look to art to release their emotions and make social emotional growth. So many of my students see me in the hallway and tell me how they can't wait to come to art. It is a time to express themselves through art, my students are thriving in this 45 minutes per week!

Due to Covid 19, students can not share materials, this project will provide more supplies to students so they can continue to express themselves through art in safe manor with enough supplies to go around.

The first project we will be doing is self portraits which is why it is so important that my students have the multicultural markers so they can represent their diverse shades.
