Social Emotional and Character Development-a Foundation for Four Year Olds
Help me give my students social emotional learning tools that are age appropriate and would spark communication and vocabulary with students and their peers and students and their teacher!
My students come from all different backgrounds, from all over the world. We have 10 different languages just in PreK. Most of our students live in poverty, with our school having over 90% of children on free and reduced lunch.
Our students love to come to school.
This is their safe place. They know they will have food, shelter, and a loving environment that provides them with their needs.
Children at our school are eager to learn and soak it all in, everyday. I love my school and my kiddos. Their backgrounds inspire me to be a better person and teacher.
My Project
In pre-k we are all about building a foundation for our little ones and that starts with social and emotional leaning and development! Social and emotional health affects a preschool aged child’s overall learning and development. These tools will help spark conversations between students and their peers. They will have many different tools to use to explain or show how they feel. They might use the doll house and characters to explain their own feelings or put on a puppet show to tell how they are feeling. They will also be able to use all of these items to extend their meaning and vocabulary while having fun! These tools will also allow me to use them as a teaching tool to help my student better understand, explain, and control their feelings!
