This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is a Title I school with predominantly English language learners who come from low-income families. Ninety percent of our children come from families that are at or below the poverty level.
My class is full of bright, active students who are excited to begin the path of learning.
They come in every day ready to experience new things. I want to start them on their way to being lifelong learners in an environment that makes learning joyful and makes my children feel respected and loved.
My Project
Recess during a pandemic has been quite a challenge for my little ones. They look longingly at the playground equipment and try to understand why they can't play on it but remain cheerful anyway. They spend a lot of time playing in the gravel on the edge of our playground, picking flowers, and chasing each other.
Despite it all, they love recess and are filled with joy.
The balls, golf sets, croquet set, and pogo sticks I ordered will give my students other ways to entertain themselves during our twice-daily recesses.
