Social Distance Play for Special Needs Students

My Students

I work for the Worcester Public Schools. My classroom is self-contained, catering to students who have severe learning disabilities. My classroom is made up of 15 students with very diverse needs. Our school has divided the students into three learning groups for the upcoming school year. Special needs students will return for in-person learning for the 2020-21 school year.

All students needs are individualized to meet their specific learning/health needs.

Due to the coronavirus, resources are very limited as we have more students than ever before. There have been district-wide cutbacks, leaving it extremely difficult to acquire the necessary supplies for my special education students. Students lack the materials they need and deserve to be successful. Your donations would be going to the most amazing group of students!

My Project

Students in the life skills program will be returning to school in a couple of weeks. They will be required to remain 6 feet away from their friends throughout the day. This includes during recess and breaks.

This project is designed to offer them hands-on play and to excite them during a time they are used to engaging with their friends.

They can share their creations with their peers while remaining in their personal space.

I wish to keep my students excited about coming to school! With your help I can accomplish this. Thank you!
