This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Teaching in a low-income/high poverty school district provides many challenges. The students in my classroom come from very diverse backgrounds but they have one thing in common...their thirst for learning in a nurturing and developmentally appropriate environment. They desire an environment that provides ample opportunities for active learning to take place while they are challenged and explore through the use of hands-on activities.

We provide rigorous instruction that enables our children to achieve academic excellence while building the social and emotional skills needed to become well-rounded individuals.

My goal is to offer my students experiences that they would not ordinarily be exposed to. I strive to provide them with hands-on materials that will inspire them to interact, investigate and explore. They love books, technology, and manipulating the environment through their senses. Together we make learning fun and successful.

My Project

As we navigate through our new normal and explore our return to in person learning, my young students and I yearn for a variety of ways to enhance interactive learning while building social skills.

I strive to provide resources that will help my students develop social skills and mental health awareness as they interact, investigate and explore materials at home and at school in an unconventional setting.

These books, emotion duplo blocks and social emotional resources will help develop and strengthen my students social-emotional skills; skills that are necessary for children to recognize, in order to control their emotions and behaviors that are critical for their development and growth.

Feelings and emotions can be challenging for young learners to identify, understand, and manage. With the help of these fun and engaging activities, I am able to teach my students these very important and critical skills for problem solving and learning in today's unpredictable world.
